BODORGAN CONSERVATION

Barn Owls

The Estate has been participating in Barn Owl surveys since 1980 and have been working with various organisations such as Natural Resources Wales and the British Trust for Ornithology. Nest boxes are installed and monitored in various locations throughout the Estate.

Additional information can be found on the Internet from the British Trust for Ornithology: Click here for more information.

BODORGAN CONSERVATION

Red Squirrel Reintroduction

The Estate is working closely with the Red Squirrel Survival Trust to support Red Squirrels. The decline in red squirrels is caused by loss of habitat, competition with non-native grey squirrels and exposure to squirrel pox.

The red squirrels have bred successfully on the Estate and it is encouraging to see their numbers increasing.

For further details on the plight of red squirrels and the work that is being done by the Red Squirrel Survival Trust, please see their website: rsst.org.uk.

BODORGAN CONSERVATION

Bird Surveys

The Estate has been working with the British Trust for Ornithology since 2008, participating in the North Wales Breeding Bird Atlas, which carries out surveys twice a year: northwalesbirdatlas.co.uk.

This project has collected data to produce the first ever Breeding Bird Atlas for North Wales.
